Jimmy “J.J.” Jones is more than a candidate—he’s a father, a grandfather, and a lifelong public servant.
J.J. began his law enforcement career in the jail, working his way through every rank to ultimately serve as Knox County Sheriff for 11 years. He’s managed an $85 million budget, secured over 20% in raises for officers, implemented body cams before they were mandated, and led with steady, transparent leadership throughout his tenure.
After stepping down, he returned to patrol in a neighboring city—not for attention, but because public safety is in his blood. That same passion for service now brings him back to run for Knoxville Sheriff, ready to lead with clarity, experience, and integrity.
